Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE) is a national nonprofit that accelerates effective and equitable adoption of clean transportation and distributed energy through program design and administration.

Deep Expertise

For more than 25 years, CSE has designed and administered multimillion and even billion-dollar programs in clean transportation, renewable energy and the built environment. We run programs for state and local governments and utilities that incentivize adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and EV charging, energy storage, energy efficiency, distributed solar and more.

CSE-run programs include:

  • The largest, longest-running EV incentive program in the U.S.
  • The largest statewide EV charging infrastructure program in the U.S.
  • The largest program for solar on multifamily affordable housing in the U.S.
  • Part of the longest-running energy storage incentive program in the U.S.

As a neutral, third-party nonprofit administrator, CSE is trusted for its data-driven and software-enabled approach, deep domain expertise and customer-focused team.

CSE works in over a dozen states that are home to a third of all Americans.
