Today's workshop will take a close look at principles and system types, reviewing advantages and disadvantages of each in detail.

Skip will offer detailed analysis of the various system types and applications including consideration of water heating loads, climate factors, and collector selection for residential and commercial systems.

We will analyze the evolution, failures, challenges and solutions of the various system types.

We’ll review the continuing evolution of standards and best practices that make today’s solar systems more reliable.  And we’ll describe how to use these standards for maximum benefit in the new and expanding CSI Thermal rebate program.  Major technical subjects will be fluid freeze and overheat protection, scald and scale protection, TLC for glycol, pipe gradient and pump requirements for drainback systems, weight and heat loss considerations for passive systems, and system sizing.   


Skip Fralick, has over 30 years of experience in the Solar Thermal industry, and is currently the Solar Water Heating Energy Engineer at CCSE. He is also a LEED Accredited Professional, an AEE Certified Energy Manager, and a BPI Professional.
