Leaders 2020 Composting Workshop

Composting workshop & tour at El Corazon Compost Facility

When: Saturday, February 10th from 11am – 1pm

Where: El Corazon Compost Facility, 3210 Oceanside Blvd, Oceanside, CA 92056

Did you know that San Diego county disposes of more waste per capita than the state average and more than other major urban counties in California? One solution: composting.

Join us at El Corazon Composting Facility for a workshop on composting in San Diego. Mary Matava, owner of Agri Service, will discuss the near term and long term benefits of sustainable organics recycling. Composting organic waste not only diverts material away from the landfill and improves local soils, but also dramatically affects the landfills’ methane emissions caused by the use of Alternative Daily Cover (ADC.) Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a guided tour of the El Corazon Compost Facility and view the sustainable practices used by Agri Service to create this flagship facility.

Chef Felicia Benavides of Palm Desert will provide a healthy, locally sourced lunch. Please wear closed toed shoes as we will be walking around the compost facility.
