Achieving Zero Net Energy Goals with Energy Storage

Energy storage technologies are capable of reducing utility demand charges and “load shifting”, that is storing electricity from the grid during off-peak hours when electricity is cheap and discharging electricity during peak hours when grid electricity prices are more expensive. Energy storage systems may also be coupled with intermittent generation technologies, such as solar, to provide a continuous supply of renewable energy to a home or business.

This webinar covered energy storage technology basics and how it relates to ZNE, information on energy storage incentives through the recently revised Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP), and a discussion of two recent case studies from prominent California energy storage developers and customers.

This webinar is based on the ZNE Roadmap for Local Governments, a list of nine policy recommendations that local jurisdictions can implement to support and drive the market for ZNE buildings. The roadmap and webinar were produced by CSE and funded by the San Diego Regional Energy Partnership, which includes San Diego Gas & Electric, City of San Diego, County of San Diego, City of Chula Vista, San Diego Association of Governments and Port of San Diego.
