San Diego County’s total number of closures and advisories decreased from 2011 to 2012. One cause of fewer beach closures in San Diego was the reduced number of rain advisories, which led to a decrease in the amount of polluted runoff entering our coastal waters. 87 percent of San Diego's beaches earned A or B marks during wet weather, up 10% from last year, and besting San Diego's 5 year average by 19%.
