Course Description:
This half day course will explore several aspects of facility management including operations and maintenance, building systems, project management, and staffing. Concepts, strategies and best practices will be presented with an emphasis on sustainability and energy savings. The course is designed for persons with little or no background in facility management as well as those with some experience.
About the Speaker:
David Timber has an extensive background in the design, construction operation and maintenance of buildings. He earned a BS degree from Cornell University, and a Masters in Public Administration from National University. He served as facility manager for a number of public facilities including office buildings, libraries, animal shelters, public health and hospital facilities, East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility, and Heritage Park in Old Town. He was project manager for the award-winning Fallbrook library which opened in 2011, and is currently managing a project to redevelop a city block in the Little Italy neighborhood of San Diego. He also serves as instructor for facility management courses at UCSD Extension, and as an IFMA San Diego Board member.
