The first hybrid taxis at San Diego International Airport made their official debut Nov. 21 as part of an initiative to bring clean vehicles into the taxi fleet involving CCSE, the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, Mossy Toyota and San Diego Metropolitan Transit System.

As the first recipients of a $5,000 check from the newly created San Diego Airport Vehicle Rebate Program, Jorge Rodriguez and Kole Handy, owners of Lifestyle Transportation, weren’t satisfied with just getting one Lincoln MKZ hybrid luxury sedan - they plan to buy five alternative fuel vehicles with rebates, saving enough to purchase a sixth car for free.

GREEN FOR GREEN: A wide variety of low-emission vehicles are eligible for rebates through the San Diego Airport Vehicle Rebate Program. Any operator with a vehicle registered at the airport can qualify.
