October 2010 is Solar Energy Month
Celebrate California’s success in solar energy and help more home and business owners go solar during the third annual Solar Energy Month, October 2010. With solar systems providing clean, reliable energy at nearly 65,000 customer sites throughout California, Solar Energy Month provides a chance to show more people how to take advantage of the benefits of going solar today.
Take a Solar Class or Solar Home Tour Educated consumers make smart choices when they go solar, so check out the Community Solar Calendar for dozens of free classes for consumers and installers alike. The public is welcome to use this calendar to promote solar events. Simply click to the Go Solar, California! Community Solar Calendar and submit details about your Solar Energy Month events. Then, we will publish your events in e-mails to nearly 10,000 subscribers of the California Solar Initiative e-newsletter.
One fun way to spend a Saturday is the upcoming National Solar Homes Tour on October 2 sponsored by the American Solar Energy Society (ASES), during which hundreds of solar homeowners across California will showcase their solar homes to others interested in going solar.
Showcase Your Solar System Show your solar pride by uploading photos of your beautiful solar systems to the Go Solar, California! photo gallery. Many homeowners’ solar systems have been featured in Go Solar, California! publications and promotional materials, including the new web site, the 2010 wall calendar and CSI reports. Sustainable Energy Week in San Diego, Sept. 12 - 18
Learn about energy efficiency, solar power, electric cars, home energy retrofitting and a host of other green and sustainable lifestyle choices during Sustainable Energy Week, Sept. 12–18, in San Diego. The week features special events, tours, a family fun day and a cutting-edge energy conference presented by the California Center for Sustainable Energy.
Family Energy Day & Street Smart, Sept. 12, features high-dollar prize drawings, test drives of pre-market plug-in cars, games for kids, live entertainment, solar workshops, vendor displays and an opportunity to meet celebrity race car driver and environmental advocate Leilani Münter, Carbon Free Girl.
Clean Energy Commercial Tours, Sept. 14 and 15, offer two days of guided bus tours to see the latest energy-efficient and renewable energy technologies in their real-world applications. Click here to register.
At the Clean Energy Conference, Sept. 16, learn about developments in clean tech and engage in this unique opportunity to network with renewable energy industry experts. Call for Photos of CSI-Funded Solar Systems Calling all installers and solar system owners! This is a great opportunity to showcase your CSI-funded solar projects. The California Solar Initiative Program seeks photos of CSI-funded solar systems for use in future newsletters or other CSI-related publicity. Photos can include completed solar PV systems, shots of installations in progress or solar water heating installations. Please provide the following when submitting your solar PV system, solar water heating system or installation photos.
- Name of photographer
- Name of installer, seller and/or system owner
- System size and location
- Date project was installed
- Full permission to use photo in CSI-related publicity
