Updates Provided on the State Rebate and Public Infrastructure Status
October 16 marked the first ever National Plug-In Day (NPID). The event was created by Plug-In America, the Sierra Club, and the Electric Auto Association as a way to draw attention to the many benefits of electric vehicles through simultaneously staged events in 29 cities throughout the country.
California Center for Sustainable Energy ( CCSE) was proud to host the San Diego NPID event. With over 80 electric vehicles present, this event proved to be the largest gathering of electric vehicles in San Diego history. Over 150 guests enjoyed a “tailgate without tailpipes” party complete with a taco lunch provided by CCSE while they shared stories of electric vehicle ownership. The celebration included a wide variety of plug-in vehicles including Chevy Volts, Teslas, a Vectrix electric motorcycle, neighborhood electric vehicles and more Nissan LEAFs than we could count. There were also a large number of home conversion cars at the event including a converted Porsche, Mustang, Chevy S10, MG, El Camino and many more. Thank you to all that attended!
After the party, information was presented to update attendees on current state of the electric vehicle market in San Diego and California. CCSE, San Diego Gas & Electric and ECOtality gave updates on a range of electric vehicle topics.
