Over $1 Million Added to CVRP Funds!

Remaining CVRP Funding

If you’re anything like the staff here at CCSE, you’ve been paying close attention to the “Estimated Remaining CVRP Funding” ticker on the CVRP home page.  Whether you’re anxiously awaiting the arrival of your new electric vehicle or just considering making the switch to a cleaner commute, the automatically-updated CVRP funding level can offer peace of mind that you will be able to apply $900-$2,500 to the cost of your eligible vehicle.  If you glanced at the CVRP available funding ticker today, you will be happy to learn that there hasn’t been an error.  The California Air Resources board just added a whopping $1,169,980 in funding for CVRP rebates this year!

At the beginning of fiscal year 2011-2012, the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project was allocated $15 million in program funding (tripling past funding levels).  It has been an exciting and ever-surprising enterprise to watch the demand of electric vehicles rise over the past year, as more vehicles enter the market and charging stations sprout up across the state.

Today’s influx of new vehicle rebate funding reflects a reallocation of funds from other categories under ARB’s Fiscal Year 2011-2012 Air Quality Improvement Program.  The additional funding could mean ~800 more CVRP clean vehicle rebates this year, depending on the vehicles.  We look forward to giving out each and every one of those rebates to the conscious consumers who purchase electric vehicles over the summer, and we encourage those interested to keep an eye out on the CVRP funding ticker, as well as upcoming announcements regarding the status of next year’s level of CVRP funding.
