ARB Approves FY 2011-2012 Funding for CVRP

$15 Million Dollars for FY 2011-2012 and Rebate Amounts Decrease

Overwhelmingly the California Air Resources Board ( ARB) has approved $15 million dollars for CVRP for FY 2011-2012, which is is a three-fold increase in funding over the previous year. In addition to the increase in funding, rebate amounts will also decrease, to a maximum of $2,500. FY 2010-2011 Funding Runs Out, Waiting List Started

It finally happened, the CVRP funding for FY 2010-2011 has been completely distributed.  But there is light at the end of the tunnel.  The Air Resources Board, the main funding agency for the CVRP, has proposed a significant increase in program funding for FY 2011-2012. Additionally, the California Center for Sustainable Energy has already started a waiting list for applicants who apply from now until  when FY 2011-2012 funding is added.

$2M more for EVs in 2011!

California Energy Commission Extends Clean Vehicle Rebates in California

Today the California Energy Commission ( CEC) and the Air Resources Board ( ARB) officially finalized an agreement that will make many EV early adopters in California smile. To read the press release, click here. The interagency agreement puts an extra $2 million dollars in the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP). While the CVRP is open to a range of electric, plug-in hybrid electric and fuel cell vehicles, this extra boost in funding from the CEC is reserved for highway capable vehicles that can carry four or more passengers.  So this essentially is open to three eligible vehicles in the program, the Nissan LEAF, Honda Clarity and the Azure Connect Transit Connect. CVRP Vehicle Cap, 20 Vehicles per Year

Air Resources Board ( ARB) institutes vehicle cap beginning in 2011

Beginning in 2011, individuals, businesses and government entities are allowed to rebate a maximum of 20 vehicles per calendar year. Creating a cap on vehicle rebates will help to distribute limited CVRP funds to more applicants in 2011.

Car Share and Rental Car Companies Expand EV Reach

CVRP provides rebates for car share and rental companies in 2010-2011

Rental and car share companies are now eligible for CVRP rebates between $450-$1,500 depending on vehicle type. This reduced rebate amount is available to qualified companies that operate a plug-in electric or electric vehicle in California for at least one year.

CCSE will generate waiting list if program is oversubscribed

The Air Resources Board and CCSE will establish a waiting list for CVRP applicants if there is a gap in funding between the current year (FY 2010-2011) and the next year of funding (FY 2011-2012).
