The California Center for Sustainable Energy ( CCSE) is implementing a Home Improvement Retailer Partnership Pilot Program to test the effectiveness of promoting whole-house energy upgrades through the retail channel. The ultimate goal is to lead consumers to participate in the statewide Energy Upgrade California program.
CCSE will partner with retail stores in San Diego County to promote whole house energy retrofits through a home energy assessment service and special events at local retail stores. The home energy assessment service provided by the local retailer will focus on plug load analysis as plug loads play a much larger role in total residential energy consumption in San Diego than in other parts of the country. The goal of the assessment is to demonstrate to homeowners the biggest opportunities for energy savings in their homes. By educating homeowners about how they use energy, the pilot hopes to drive demand for whole house energy retrofits through the Energy Upgrade California Program.
The Pilot will exclusively target single-family detached residences in San Diego County. It is expected to launch in May 2011 and go through summer 2012 or until funds are exhausted.
