Fueling Alternatives was funded by the California Air Resources Board ( CARB), offered throughout the State of California and administered by the California Center for Sustainable Energy ( CCSE). A total of $1.8 million was appropriated and directed toward vehicle incentive rebates to promote the use and production of alternative fuel vehicles.

Rebates of up to $5,000 were available for consumers who purchase or lease new eligible alternative fuel vehicles between May 24, 2007 and April 30, 2009 or until funding runs out*.
