PLEASE NOTE: Program funding was exhausted on February 27, 2009. Fueling Alternatives is funded by the California Air Resources Board ( CARB), offered throughout the State of California and administered by the California Center for Sustainable Energy ( CCSE). A total of $1.8 million was appropriated and directed toward vehicle incentive rebates to promote the use and production of alternative fuel vehicles. Applications are no longer being accepted. Rebates of up to $5,000 are available for consumers who purchase or lease new eligible alternative fuel vehicles between May 24, 2007 and April 30, 2009 or until funding runs out*. Applicant and vehicle eligibility requirements are specified in the CARB Alternative Fuel Vehicle Incentive Program (AFVIP) guidelines (Guidelines).
* These rebate amounts only apply to vehicles with sealed, maintenance-free batteries and extended warranties as described in Section 3.2.2 of the program guidelines. For more information about the rebate program you can download the Final Fund Outlay
