San Diego Home Energy Upgrade Program Aims To Reduce Energy Expenses By 15 To 20%

A citywide program got under way on Wednesday to make the homes of 2,000 low-income residents more energy-efficient over the next year.Eligible homeowners will receive improvements for free in the San Diego Home Energy Upgrade program, which aims to reduce energy expenses by 15 to 20 percent.The program "helps residents lower their energy costs, it improves the homes in our communities and it creates jobs for San Diegans," Mayor Jerry Sanders said.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Aug. 31, 2011) - San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders announced today a new citywide program that offers funding for low-to-moderate income residents to reduce their energy bills while improving the comfort, health and safety of their homes. The San Diego Home Energy Upgrade ( SDHEU) program is part of the City of San Diego’s continuing efforts to encourage residents to implement energy efficiency and improve the quality of their homes and neighborhoods.
