Make a conscious effort to reduce your energy use and shrink your carbon footprint this summer!
San Diegans are encouraged to improve their homes' energy efficiency and reduce their utility costs as part of a Summer of Energy Independence declared by Mayor Jerry Sanders on June 28. You can be a part of this vitally important movement toward a clean energy future by joining in programs that provide discounts on energy retrofitting and solar energy systems.
The key for homeowners wanting to increase their home’s energy performance is to combine energy efficiency measures with solar photovoltaic ( PV) and solar water heating systems to take advantage of free, clean energy from the sun. When these steps are taken in tandem, the end results are greatly improved indoor air quality, enhanced home comfort and lower monthly utility costs that continue for many years.
The California Center for Sustainable Energy, San Diego Gas & Electric and other community groups are supporting the Mayor's initiative to make this the Summer of Energy Independence in San Diego. Check back frequently for new program announcements and discounts and save energy this summer!
