Technical Assistance with Technology Incentives

Identifying energy savings through energy audits and qualifying clients for rebates and incentives

At the California Center for Sustainable Energy ( CCSE) we provide engineering services that help governmental, commercial and industrial businesses obtain equipment funding and cash incentives for reducing energy demand during peak periods. As part of SDG&E’s Technical Assistance with Technology Incentives (TA/TI) program, we perform on-site energy audits and detailed energy-use analysis at no cost to you.

The TA/TI program is for governmental, commercial and industrial building owners and operators whose annual electricity demand is 20 kilowatts or more. Once your application is approved by SDG&E, you qualify for a free energy audit conducted by CCSE that determines your facility’s potential to reduce electric load during demand response events.

CCSE energy engineers will conduct the on-site audit and work with you to identify demand response opportunities and strategies. Some solutions include installation of integrated energy management system controls for lighting and HVAC equipment. Depending on the demand response program you choose, your installations may qualify for incentives from $100/ kW to $300/ kW of demand load shed. In addition, your facility could be eligible for additional energy-efficiency equipment upgrade incentives or rebates through other California Public Utility Commission programs.

Once a facility’s energy upgrades are identified through the technical assistance, you may choose to enroll in any one of the following technical incentive demand response programs: Base Interruptible Program, Capacity Bidding Program, Critical Peak Pricing – Emergency,Critical Peak Pricing – Defaulter Optimal BindingMandatory Curtailment.

Benefits of the TA/TI Program

  • Your facility energy audit at no cost to you
  • Identifying your energy-efficiency upgrade opportunities
  • Payment of 50% of your installed technology cost
  • Ability to choose among five demand response programs
  • Ability to participate in Automated Demand Response Program
  • Avoidance of high-demand charges

CCSE is fully qualified to guide you through the TA/TI program process, assess your facility’s energy use, identify energy-efficiency upgrade potentials, assist with obtaining incentives and help save you money on your energy costs, month after month, year after year.

"The scientists are virtually screaming from the rooftops now. The debate is over! There's no longer any debate in the scientific community about this. But the political systems around the world have held this at arm's length because it's an inconvenient truth, because they don't want to accept that it's a moral imperative."

- Al Gore, An Inconvenient Truth
