Eliminating bottled water at work
Let’s face it, bottled water, in either personal-use or five-gallon containers, may taste great, but the bottles are among the worst items jamming our landfills and littering our world, especially in the oceans. In addition, the oil to make plastic bottles and the transportation to distribute them are major sources of air pollution. The workplace is a good place to make use of alternatives to bottled water.
At CCSE, we were providing hundreds of bottles of water each month for participants in our workshops and other onsite events. Now we are using high-tech water purification units from Pure Water Technology (PWT) of San Diego. The PWT multistage filtration systems go well beyond all water standards by eliminating microbiological contamination with activated oxygen injection and a built-in sanitization process. The dispensers supply thermostat-controlled hot and cold water and incorporate energy-saving controls.
PWT systems are leased and monthly costs vary between installations, depending on usage. PWT of San Diego is offering Energy Connection readers a seven-day, no-cost/no-obligation trial for their business or office. Contact Barbara Jarvis at (619) 564-8500.
