Our job at CCSE is to support and promote everything related to sustainable energy. That’s why this year we have combined our successful Solar Energy Week and Street Smart San Diego events and broadened the conversation for Sustainable Energy Week to include energy efficiency, building performance, energy storage, wind energy, business energy planning, biofuels, marketing and more. Sustainable Energy Week, Sept. 12-18, is going to be exciting, educational and fun!
At Sustainable Energy Week events you can find out about everything you need to know to start or expand sustainability in your home or business. If you are thinking about solar power, we can tell you how to proceed. If you want to build green, we can help you find sustainable vendors and contractors. If you would like to buy an electric vehicle, we can get you a rebate. And so much more.
We are making this change because we see an urgent need to ramp up a more holistic approach to sustainability in our homes and businesses that better integrates renewable energy, energy efficiency, green building, transportation and greenhouse gas reduction. Working toward this integration puts us in alignment with not only state and federal energy plans, but also sets the stage for several upcoming programs we will be participating in with SDG&E, the California Energy Commission and the Department of Energy that emphasize whole building performance, workforce development and consumer education. High-performance is achieved when all of your building’s or home’s systems (e.g. furnace, insulation, windows, ventilation, etc.) are working together to help you maximize comfort and energy efficiency while cutting energy costs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
There will be something for everyone at Sustainable Energy Week, from families and children to engineers and policymakers. On Sunday, Sept. 12, there will be live entertainment on the solar-powered stage, solar cooking, solar scooters and games. We’ll even be playing electric soccer with a ball that produces and stores electrical power. You can talk with celebrity race car driver and environmental activist Leilani Münter, and check out pre-market electric cars and take a test drive. We’ll also have some free food and great prizes.
Please plan to join us for this weeklong series of activities. Some of the events fill up quickly, so I encourage you to mark your calendars and register today. See you there!
