It was standing room only at the Local Government Workshop on home energy retrofit programs and government-sponsored financing options held at CCSE. More than 100 government officials, energy industry experts and others learned how municipalities can design comprehensive residential programs that will decrease energy consumption and help meet California’s greenhouse gas ( GHG) emissions reduction goals. There is a tidal wave of green jobs approaching California, and we are only beginning to see it crest, according to speakers at the San Diego Green Jobs Symposium held June 17. Sponsored by a consortium of organizations, educational centers, businesses and the City of San Diego, the afternoon meeting explored opportunities to expand the region’s green workforce. Read more. Green Career Pathways is an afternoon of presentations about green workforce opportunities in San Diego set for 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, at the UCSD Price Center. S DG&E and Google have teamed up to allow the utility’s customers to monitor their daily energy usage online. The program combines SDG&E’s digital smart meters with Google’s newly developed PowerMeter gadget. Read more.

Timothy Treadwell Tim Treadwell is a program analyst for the California Solar Initiative ( CSI). He handles CCSE’s CSI measurement and evaluation, public reporting, general data analysis and the tracking of regional solar energy installations. His work includes developing analytical tools for program assessment, tracking and evaluation, as well as in-depth economic analysis of renewable-energy technologies and applications. Read more.

Hold a meeting with coworkers to analyze activities in the office, factory or field for their impact on the environment. Identify areas of waste and look for ways to make changes.
