Learning Center
This portion of the San Diego Energy Resource Center has a classroom or theatre-style forum where business and residential consumers are able to learn about energy efficient technology and gain access to energy professionals and educational resources. For a current schedule of educational events, please visit: www.energycenter.org/events. Diagnostic Tool Lending Library
The SDERC Diagnostic Tool Lending Library contains over fifty site measurement tools available for loan at no cost. The intent is to encourage customers to use these instruments to accurately yet easily measure energy, power, light, flows and other parameters to make intelligent decisions about where and when to concentrate on energy conservation opportunities, maintenance, and (indirectly) safety hazards. The library contains a wide variety of instruments that either take instantaneous readings or log measured results over a chosen time period for later viewing and analysis. For a complete listing of measurement tools available, download our Diagnostic Lending Library Catalog at: www.energycenter.org/sderc. The check-out process for this equipment is straightforward. A simple one-page reservation form must be filled out and a photocopy of the person’s driver’s license is required. The tools are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Loan periods vary from 2 to 10 days, but special loan periods can be arranged. Our top priority is safety and customer satisfaction. Take advantage of this new resource today! - TOP -

Irene M. Stillings Executive Director - TOP - Program Spotlight
First in the Region: The San Diego Energy Resource Center Now Open to the Public The doors are now open to the region's first Energy Resource Center! As Governor Gray Davis stated in his personal letter to the CCSE, "By providing educational tools and important information about energy resources, the SDERC will help to improve service to area businesses and consumers." The San Diego Energy Resource Center features: - Interactive displays catering to visitors at all levels of energy knowledge
- An extensive diagnostic tool lending library for conducting site measurements
- Customer requested training courses held in our Learning Center
- A comprehensive reference library of energy videos, books and periodicals
The SDERC also provides outreach campaigns to local associations for tours and meetings and will ultimately feature user-friendly contractor/vendor and energy technologies databases through the CCSE Web Site and at computer kiosks in the SDERC. Executive Director, Irene Stillings, comments "The new Energy Resource Center will help consumers make smart choices and take advantage of the many programs available to them. The first step to better energy use comes through solid information and education. The Energy Resource Center will deliver this vital information and knowledge." The SDERC is open to the public from 8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays. It is operated by the independent, nonprofit San Diego Regional Energy Office and funded by the California Public Utilities Commission ( CPUC). Since the Program was implemented early in 2001, over 21 million square feet of qualifying white roofing material has been installed throughout the five Southern California Counties serviced by the CCSE. To date, over $3 million in rebates has been distributed to 450 Program participants. A cool roof is effective in reflecting solar radiation and will keep the roof cooler. A cool roof will also keep the inside building temperature cooler and should result in lower cooling costs. For more information on Cool Roofs, visit http://eetd.lbl.gov/heatislands/coolroofs. |
