McAllister To Be Energy Commissioner
CCSE director tapped by Gov. Brown for leadership role

Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. has appointed CCSE’s Andrew McAllister to the California Energy Commission. McAllister, 46, has held several positions with CCSE since 2005, most recently as interim managing director.

As a member of the Energy Commission, McAllister will be overseeing elements of the state’s energy planning and policies. The position requires confirmation from the California State Senate.

Peter Hamilton, CCSE’s director of energy services, will serve as interim managing director.

Creating a New Energy Economy
A future without oil, coal or nuclear power

Energy expert Amory Lovins (right), chairman of the Rocky Mountain Institute, captivated a crowd of San Diegans with visions of a future United States thriving economically without using oil, coal or nuclear power at a lecture cosponsored by CCSE and CleanTECH San Diego held April 11. His solution is “reinventing fire,” a sweeping proposal to transition from burning fossil fuels to using efficient and renewable energy.

Bike to Work Tips
May 18 is Bike to Work Day

Few forms of transportation are more economical or environmentally friendly than riding a bicycle, particularly when pedaling replaces a gas-powered vehicle. Some 6,000 San Diegans are projected to take to two wheels during Bike to Work Day, Friday, May 18.

Simply search by subject, author, title, manufacturer, name or type and if what you want is available, you can put a hold on it until you come by CCSE to complete the check-out process.
