Discover Your Power: Energy Education Celebration
Please join us for a celebration of ten years of the San Diego Energy Resource Center as we end the program and unveil CCSE's upcoming education and outreach plans. We're taking our programs on the road, into the community, online and throughout the state — and we want you to discover your power and be a part of the fun.
Energy Independence for Emergencies
CCSE's interim Executive Director Robert Wilder joined San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders in "switching on" a solar and advanced battery energy generating system at the Scripps Ranch Community Recreation Center in late September. If the electric grid goes down during an emergency, such as wildfires, the center will supply its own electricity and serve as an energy "island" command center for fire and police operations. Rebates Fund 10,000 Clean Cars
The California Air Resources Board and the California Environmental Protection Agency announced in September the awarding of the 10,000th Clean Vehicle Rebate Project ( CVRP) incentive to Natasha Casteel of Meadow Vista, Calif. Mike Ferry, CCSE's transportation program manager, was among the dignitaries participating in an award ceremony at the Governor's Summit on Zero Emission Vehicles in Sacramento. Higher Rebates for Solar Water Heating
The California Public Utilities Commission has approved double-digit increases for rebates offered through the California Solar Initiative ( CSI) Thermal Program as a way to increase participation in the statewide program. Click here to continue reading.
Fuel Cells Make Sense for Business
Representatives from four of the nation's top fuel cell manufacturers presented the latest developments in applications for distributed generation and onsite backup power during a workshop at CCSE in October. Fuel cell systems are among the many clean technologies eligible for the Self-Generation Incentive Program ( SGIP), sponsors of the event. Click here to continue reading.

DID YOU KNOW? The most popular way for homeowners to get solar in California today is to lease solar photovoltaic systems? It nearly eliminates up-front costs, and you pay less for electricity than typical utility rates. The same savings are available for businesses, multifamily residents and municipalities. Start at CCSE's California Solar Initiative website.
