Building Green with Energy-Efficient Technologies | ||||||||||
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 6, 2008)— Following the October 2007 wildfires, many fire survivors are interested not only in rebuilding green, but also in building homes that will resist the ravages of future firestorms. Visit CCSE''s Energy Resource Center for a live demonstration of one of the latest options in energy-efficient, fire-resistant building! CCSE is holding a free workshop designed to help homeowners learn all about Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), an alternative to standard wood framing for homes. Learn how ICF’s reduce your cooling and heating costs, prevent mold damage and protect homeowners from losing their houses to wildfires. Examples of ICF''s will be displayed, and Magic Homes of California will present the history, benefits and process of building with ICF technology. Alex Morales, of Magic Homes California, will demonstrate the fire-resistant technology to workshop attendees by taking a blow torch to the ICF building material. Firefighters will be on hand to ensure the safety of the demonstration and will be available for interviews. Fire Survivors and media are encouraged to attend this Free Workshop and demonstration.
Visitors can explore all the latest energy-efficiency technologies, interactive displays and resources that CCSE’s Energy Resource Center has to offer. ### The California Center for Sustainable Energy is an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to fostering public policy and programs to facilitate the adoption of clean, reliable, sustainable and efficient energy technologies and practices.
