SAN DIEGO, Calif. (January 22, 2008) — The California Center for Sustainable Energy ( CCSE) is addressing the impacts of climate change head-on with the support of San Diego’s business community. CCSE will be assisting local businesses and public agencies to strategize for the regulatory and financial impacts of climate change, with a three-part Carbon Management Workshop series.

The first workshop, Drivers and Strategies for Carbon Management, will be January 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at CCSE. The free workshop will explain California’s new environmental regulations and address carbon management strategies to help businesses go green without breaking the bank.

This workshop will present the basics on climate change including its potential drivers and impacts, and will provide preparation for upcoming regulations that will become effective in 2008-2009. CCSE’s Director of Engineering Bob Gilleskie said, “This workshop will not only discuss the potential consequences of climate change, but will highlight new legislation [Assembly Bill AB-32] that currently impacts California businesses’ financial and regulatory risks.”

In addition, Mr. Gilleskie said, “ CCSE is expecting an impressive turnout of regional business owners, public agencies and economic development organizations who are interested in leading the green wave of business in San Diego and California.” CCSE is encouraging representatives from businesses and agencies of all sizes to participate in this workshop. While attendance is free, attendees should register to facilitate planning by CCSE.

CCSE’s Drivers and Strategies for Carbon Management workshop is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at its San Diego location:

California Center for Sustainable Energy
8690 Balboa Ave., Suite 100
San Diego, CA 92123

In addition to the three-part Carbon Management Series, CCSE is implementing several green programs such as the California Solar Initiative, the Solar Water Heating Pilot Program, and Cool Communities Shade Trees Program.
