CSI Fully Booked for Step 7 & Application Updates

Print

As most of you have seen, the California Solar Initiative Residential and Non-Residential Programs in San Diego have received enough MW’s to move from Step 7 to Step 8.

Besides the move towards Step 8, I also want to reiterate to you a few more changes to the CSI Program application process you will need to be aware of now and in the near future and a note regarding Smart Meters. They are:

  • Tracking systems now available in the CSI EPBB Calculator. For those projects that are installing a single-axis or dual-axis tracking system, you now have the ability to correctly identify it. Please note, you can only choose between single and dual axis tracking if you have first indicated that it is a PBI system.
  • Requirement of all electronic Reservation Request submittals via PowerClerk. The CSI Program Administrators have planned for Reservation Request submittals only through PowerClerk starting December 1, 2010.
  • One step Reservation Request submittals for Residential projects will be available through PowerClerk in Q1 2011. This will allow for you to submit a project for an incentive once the system has already been installed and interconnected. Two Step Reservation Request submittals for Non-Residential projects will also be available in Q1 2011.
  • SDG&E installed their first smart meter on a net-metered home this month. All new residential solar installations will get smart meters going forward, and starting in November, they will be installing smart meters on existing solar homes they did not change out previously. If you would like to find out more information, the California Center for Sustainable Energy along with SDG&E is hosting a NEM lunch and learn on Friday, November 5, 2010 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. To register, please visit our Workshop and Events Calendar.

Notable & Quotable

"Don't get me wrong: I love nuclear energy! It's just that I prefer fusion to fission. And it just so happens that there's an enormous fusion reactor safely banked a few million miles from us. It delivers more than we could ever use in just about 8 minutes. And it's wireless! ."
