Energy Resource Library shares green learning
CCSE’s Energy Resource Library recently donated a collection of books and DVDs on green topics and sustainability to the Serra Mesa-Kearny Mesa and the La Mesa branch libraries. The items focused on energy efficiency and also included items on climate change and green building.
The new materials are currently displayed at the libraries and may be borrowed from any city or county library branch using their online catalogs. The books and DVDs were introduced at both libraries during an event sponsored by CCSE that featured a presentation by Andrea Cook, CCSE program manager of the Green Learning Adventure. More than 70 participants learned about living green with hands-on activities showing how to reduce electricity use, purchase items with less packaging and other sustainable concepts.
“This collaboration of the Green Learning Adventure and the Energy Resource Library was a great way to reach out to the community to educate them about energy efficiency and climate change,” said Sarah Volpe, CCSE librarian and resource specialist.
The Energy Resource Library is part of the Energy Resource Center, a partnership program with SDG&E. The library offers a collection of books, DVDs and data-logging tools that may be borrowed free of charge. It is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. –5 p.m. The library catalog can be accessed online.
