General Instructions for All Nominations
Eligibility: An individual or organization that is committed to creating a sustainable and clean environment through specific actions that show superior energy management with an integrated approach using energy efficiency, renewable energy and clean transportation as well as water efficiency. Nominations must clearly demonstrate the specific measures installed with quantified energy savings.
Criteria: The 2011 Energy All-Star Awards are based on work completed and energy savings demonstrated during the 2011 calendar year. Accomplishments outside of this time period may be mentioned for reference and to demonstrate continuous improvement and past performance.
What to submit online
- Completed online nomination form. Follow the instructions as you fill out each section.
- Mandatory: Please submit a minimum of three photographs of the project. Nominations without photos will not be considered for awards.
- Optional: Please submit any project pamphlets or brochures, copies of advertisements or videos, energy policy statements and energy tracking reports or tools.
- Proof of listed building certifications, i.e. LEED, ENERGY STAR, etc may be required later.
When to submit: A complete electronic nomination must be uploaded by Friday, January 20, 2012. Nominations and supporting documentation will not be accepted after this date.

Sustainable Transportation
Recognizes an individual, organization, project or technology that has had significant impact on the acceleration of innovative sustainable transportation. This award is open for statewide nominations.
Outstanding Innovation in a Building Project
A commercial building or project or a government agency or nonprofit business that demonstrates outstanding efforts through a specific energy management plan implemented in 2011. Projects must show innovation in design, integrated technologies and reduction in energy use as well as greenhouse gas emissions.
Outstanding Homeowner
The nominee demonstrates a solid energy management plan by integrating a whole-house science approach from testing stage to actual installation. Home project shows significant savings through innovative design, a mixture of integrated technologies and reduction in energy use as well as greenhouse gas emissions.
Outstanding Sustainable Organization
An organization that leads the community in sustainable practices. Recognizes the establishment of a strong sustainable corporate mission and work culture that includes green initiatives, employee education, green practices, energy management, waste reduction and community outreach during 2011.
Community Leadership
Nominee demonstrates outstanding achievements in the community on environmental issues, education and policies while affecting positive change toward more sustainable living. This award is open for statewide nominations.
What to expect after you submit
- Confirmation of receipt: You will receive an e-mail within 48 hours confirming submission of your nomination.
- Your invitation to the award ceremony to be forwarded to you. The ceremony will be held on March 22, 2012.
Additional information
- You may submit a nominee or nominate yourself or your company for more than one category if the project meets the eligibility requirements. In such cases, a complete award nomination must be submitted for each category.
- Nominations for award categories that do not include all of the requested information will not be considered for awards.
- Where applicable, quantify your activities and the results (e.g., energy, greenhouse gas and water reductions, benefits to occupants, economic savings) and include electronic copies of documentation that support claims made (e.g., energy rating reports, engineering analysis, photos, promotional materials). CCSE will refer to materials in nominations in the promotion of winners’ achievements.
- Executive summary (300 minimum – 500 maximum words) An overview of your organization and the highlights of key accomplishments must be included. In the event that you are chosen to receive an award, this text will be used in preparing a summary of your organization's achievements. If your summary is less than the minimum requirement, the application may not be accepted.
- Cumulative accomplishments – When highlighting these accomplishments, be sure to include a project timeframe, dollars saved, kWh saved, therms saved, fuel saved and any other relevant information.
