Activities highlighted San Diego as California’s No. 1 Solar City

Solar Conference 2009The fifth annual Solar Energy Week, Sept. 27 – Oct. 3, celebrated San Diego as California’s No. 1 Solar City and served as the kick-off event to California’s Solar Energy Month (October). Activities focused on bringing together residents and business owners with solar experts, suppliers and installers to explore the benefits of using sunlight for electricity and water heating.

Solar Energy Week: The Solar Conference

San Diego is the number one solar city in California.and the California Center for Sustainable Energy wants to keep it that way.

Yesterday at Liberty Station, the group brought residents and solar experts together to explain the benefits of solar energy. Officials say installing solar panels is not as expensive as many think. "There's wonderful tax credits out there with rebates and combined the two together bring the cost down about 40 percent." Solar Energy Week continues... with a conference and a solar tour scheduled for Thursday.

5th Annual Solar Energy Week: Family Solar Day at Liberty Station

Solar Energy Week continues today. It kicked off Sunday afternoon with Family Solar Day. The event was held at Liberty Station in Point Loma. Many solar items were on display. This event was put on by the California Center for Sustainable Energy. Organizers say their goal was to show how solar energy saves money. San Diego is the leading solar city in the state with about six thousand solar installations throughout the county.
