“Average Joe” Sculpture

joe

The "Average Joe" sculpture was created by "Ecografik," a division of the AIGA San Diego chapter (American Institute for Graphic Artists). The sculpture is meant to demonstrate the amount of waste the average Joe creates daily and to spark dialogue among the public regarding waste consumption and the potential for recycling. Joe is made of completely recycled materials inside and out. Joe was created for the AIGA "Y" Conference on Sustainable Design held at USD on March 29-30th and has found a home in the ERC at CCSE for all to see.

Notable & Quotable

"The scientists are virtually screaming from the rooftops now. The debate is over! There's no longer any debate in the scientific community about this. But the political systems around the world have held this at arm's length because it's an inconvenient truth, because they don't want to accept that it's a moral imperative."

- Al Gore, An Inconvenient Truth
