Cool Roof

energy efficient roof

Cool roofs are roofs consisting of materials that very effectively reflect the sun’s energy from the roof surface. Cool materials for low-slope roods are mainly bright white in color, although non-white colors are starting to become available for sloped roof applications. Cool roofs reduce roof surface temperature by up to 50 percent, thereby reducing the heat transferred into the building below. Other benefits include: improved occupancy comfort, extended roof life and reduced urban heat islands along with associated smog.

Notable & Quotable

"Powering the world's growing population and economy could require 50 to 60 percent more energy by the year 2030. That means more use of fossil fuels, biomass, nuclear power and alternative energy."
