What Do We Do, and How Do We Do It? CCSE introduces and advocates for or against legislative proposals pertaining to our mission and vision statements. We track proposals as they progress, develop relationships with key elected officials to better understand their interests/motivational factors and advocate when bills go through legislature and committee process. - Federal Legislation: With a new federal administration in 2009, Californians can expect to see many exciting changes within the field of energy on the national level that will affect state politics through funding and policy mandates. In addition, President Obama’s cabinet includes a number of energy-related positions and a new White House Coordinator of Energy and Climate Policy position.
- California Legislation: On the state level, the 2009 legislative session holds further promise for renewable energy as both the senate and assembly committees gear up for a busy year. Visit this section for a summary of the newly introduced 2009 legislation as related to distributed generation, climate change/greenhouse gas, energy efficiency and rates/utilities. Information is also available on our website about California AB 811 that authorizes municipalities to establish programs for land-secured loans to homeowners and businesses who install energy-efficiency projects and clean-energy generation systems.
- Regional energy planning: This a core service of CCSE. The California Center for Sustainable Energy is an active participant in state, regional, local and binational policy and planning arenas. Central to this activity is providing technical support to our local council of governments, SANDAG (San Diego Association of Governments).
- Regulatory Affairs & Resources: CCSE regularly monitors regulatory proceedings relevant to our five planks: climate change, energy efficiency, green building, renewable energy and transportation. We actively participate in those regulatory proceedings relevant to our current or prospective programs.
