"San Diego now has more rooftop solar panels than any other city in California. Officials say the number of solar panel installations has been steadily climbing in the last ten years, and in the last few years has increased dramatically. San Diego has almost 2,300 solar roofs that together could generate enough energy to power 12,000 homes. It's true that San Diego and the rest of the state still have quite a way to go to reach the California legislature's goal of a million solar-powered homes by 2017, but the PACE of installations, plus the rebates going into effect, and the public interest in green, sustainable energy all make energy advocates believe that goal is not impossible".
Listen in as CCSE Director of Programs Andrew McAllister joins Radio Host Maureen Cavanaugh on KPBS’s “These Days” program speaking with Bernadette Del Chiaro, a clean energy advocate with Environment California, in a wide-ranging discussion of solar energy. They talk about Environment California’s new report listing San Diego as the number one California solar city and the role CCSE plays and take phone-in questions from listeners. Topics covered range from incentive programs and Net Metering to pending legislation and new financing programs. You can hear an audio webcast or read a transcript on the KPBS website.
