Sunrise Powerlink Transmission Project - A.06-08-010

Sunrise Powerlink Transmission Project (A.06-08-010)
San Diego Gas & Electric ( SDG&E) seeks authority from the California Public Utilities Commission ( CPUC) to construct a 500 kV transmission line in conjunction with several 230 kV transmission lines, expected to run 150 miles between the Imperial Valley to San Diego.

What's new:

On April 15, SDG&E filed its Fifth Quarterly Project Status Report (http://docs.cpuc.ca.gov/efile/REPORT/116660.pdf), as required by Ordering Paragraph 13 of D.08-12-058 (http://docs.cpuc.ca.gov/word_pdf/FINAL_DECISION/95750.pdf), which granted a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for the Sunrise Powerlink Transmission Project. In the report, SDG&E provided their project status update, answering eight required questions regarding the status of the project.

In related news, in a new proceeding, A.09-10-010 (http://docs.cpuc.ca.gov/published/proceedings/A0910010.htm), to handle SDG&E’s Application for Approval Pursuant to Public Utilities Code Section 851 to Lease Transfer Capability Rights to Citizens Energy Corporation (http://docs.cpuc.ca.gov/efile/A/108274.pdf), on March 26, the CPUC issued a Notice Resetting Dates of Evidentiary Hearing (http://docs.cpuc.ca.gov/efile/NOTICE/115430.pdf). The evidentiary hearing originally set for April 12–13 in this proceeding is now set for June 3–4.

Notable & Quotable

"If we get the right kind of energy, there are endless amounts. I think we should be developing every kind of alternative fuel that is available to us. That includes hydrogen to soybeans, from solar to wind. Whatever we can find that is going to help us clean up the environment we should be working really hard on developing."
