October is the best time to plant trees in San Diego. Join local ISA Certified Arborist, Leah Rottke for an in-depth presentation about how to grow healthy trees. Detailed information about locating the right tree in the right place, choosing the best tree species for the site, best practices for selecting quality nursery stock, and how to properly plant a new tree will be presented. Proper maintenance of newly planted trees - to include watering, pruning, staking and fertilization will  also be covered.

Leah Rottke is an arborist, certified by the International Society of Arboriculture and a landscape horticulturist. She is currently a faculty member of Cuyamaca College’s Ornamental Horticulture Department. As an urban forester,she also has a wealth of experience in the development & presentation of community education events promoting arboriculture and landscape horticulture. She serves as a volunteer arborist, providing technical advice to local public gardens and nonprofit agencies. Ms. Rottke is also an author, with over 50 articles published in national and regional landscape industry periodicals, and the book, The Home Orchard Handbook (Quarry Books, 2011.)
