Home Energy Upgrades and Rebates for Military & Veteran

Printer-friendly view of this page.

The California Center for Sustainable Energy invites members of our local military community (active duty, reservists, veterans, retirees, DOD civilians, and family members) to a free dinner workshop on home energy upgrades.  Our San Diego Hero Alliance program can help you make your home more energy efficient, comfortable, healthful and durable – and tap into rebates of up to $4,000.

At this workshop, we’ll explain why home energy efficiency is an important quality-of-life issue.  Home energy upgrades such as adding insulation, sealing air leaks, and using more efficient heating and cooling systems benefit the entire family by:

  • Eliminating drafts and hot-spots, keeping temperatures consistent and comfortable;
  • Reducing indoor dust and mold – major contributors to asthma and allergy symptoms;
  • Reducing the need for maintenance/repair of mechanical systems and  moisture-related problems; and
  • Reducing monthly utility bills.

In addition, we’ll give you the resources you need to take action in your home:

  • Testimonials by other military/veteran families who have done home energy upgrades
  • List of certified contractors along with reviews from other homeowners
  • Access to $300 vouchers for home energy assessments and rebates of up to $4,000 for home energy upgrades
  • Information on financing options for the post-rebate cost of upgrades
  • CCSE staff contacts that you can call with questions
