Job Summary

The Platform Project Manager is a member of the Systems Development Team and is responsible for the project management of multiple releases for CSE’s custom client solutions. CSE solutions include application processing platforms for clean energy incentive programs, such as California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP).  These solutions include a front-end CMS system and back-end Salesforce and document storage systems.  The Platform Project Manager reports to the Sr. Manager of CSE’s System Development team and collaborates with clients, program/project managers, business analysts, UX designers and front end/backend developers to release projects on time and with quality.  

Essential Functions and responsibilities:

Agile and Waterfall project management for the development of multiple custom client solutions:

For Agile projects:

  • Responsible for managing the scrum process and the coordination of the scrum team
  • Arranges scrum meetings, backlog grooming sessions, sprint planning, and retrospectives and keeps the team in an established cadence
  • Creates/maintains product backlogs as needed and prioritizes based on stakeholder input
  • Assists in creating and refining user stories
  • Works with Business Analysts, Developers and QA to develop estimates for user stories via grooming sessions
  • Ensures adequate testing is completed and bugs are tracked and triaged according to sound QC processes
  • Develops and issues release notes and ensures cross-company communication in advance of sprint releases

For WaterFall projects:

  • Responsible for project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting for complex projects
  • Ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget
  • Measures project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
  • Communicates project status and escalates issues to direct manager
  • Oversees an established and structured change control process
  • Ensures the team is following sound risk mitigation strategies and following processes

Third Parties:

  • Is the primary contact for 3rd party hosting providers and tools used in the management, development and release process
  • Is the Jira administrator responsible for setting up projects/backlogs, provisioning users, issuing licenses, providing training and ensuring that Jira processes are followed by all team members
  • Is the primary contact for the Rackspace Hosting Service developing and communicating maintenance plans and upgrades

Essential knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with Jira and/or other agile development management tools
  • Experience with MS Excel and MS Project or other Project Management Software
  • IT background and experience is preferred

Education and/or experience:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Project Manager, Product Manager/Product Owner or in a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Business or Communications or other related technical fields
  • Agile Scrum training or certification
