Regional Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (REVI)

The San Diego region is at the forefront of plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) deployment with the highest per capita amount of PEV purchases and car charging equipment installations in the nation. The region’s early PEV experiences have identified barriers to widespread PEV adoption, which can best be addressed by strategic and coordinated consensus. REVI's members include representative from local jurisdictions, regional public agencies, the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), CSE, San Diego Gas & Electric, local universities and community colleges, IBEW Local 569, the National Electrical Contractors Association and the business community.

What is the purpose of REVI?

San Diego REVI's primary focus is to develop a regional PEV readiness plan that identifies, reduces and resolves barriers to the widespread deployment of private and public PEV charging stations, in part, by leveraging previous PEV readiness efforts in the region. Two grants from the California Energy Commission and the Department of Energy support the San Diego REVI and regional strategic PEV planning with SANDAG and CSE serving as grant administrators. REVI meetings are open to the public and held monthly. The final San Diego regional PEV readiness plan will be completed and published in late 2013.
