Vermont Clean Transportation Incentive Programs

CSE administers several incentive programs for Vermont that provide residents and businesses cleaner and more affordable transportation options designed to help reduce state greenhouse gas emissions.

Incentive offerings vary based on the program, type of vehicle and income-qualifying requirements. Most incentives can be combined with other state clean vehicle programs and stacked with federal and local utility programs for even greater cost savings. The programs are:

  • Incentives for New Electric Vehicles: Offers $1,500-$3,000 for plug-in hybrid vehicles and $2,500-$5,000 for all-electric vehicles.
  • Replace Your Ride: Incentives of $2,500 and $5,000 for residents who scrap an at least 10-year-old vehicle and switch to a new or used EV or receive a prepaid clean mobility debit card.
  • Incentive Program for eBikes: Rebates of $400 to $800 for electric bicycles for residents – the nation’s first statewide electric bike incentive program.

CSE helped design and develop the programs and is responsible for their operations.

"We look forward to working with CSE to expand our program offerings and ensure options are available for all Vermonters," – Michele Boomhower, Division Director, Agency of Transportation, Policy, Planning & Intermodal Development
