Job Description

As the Marketing and Communications Manager, you will support the director of marketing and communications in implementing strategies that raise the organization’s visibility and market our experience designing and managing large-scale clean energy and transportation programs to public and private sector decision-makers.

You will play a key role in promoting CSE's brand, mission and expertise by managing the development of thought leadership content and marketing collateral and promoting CSE through earned and owned channels (website, email newsletter, events and social media). Overseeing a Drupal-based website and email marketing will be your primary responsibilities, so experience with an email marketing automation platform and metrics capture and reporting is a must. You’ll support these channels with social media posts as well as media research and outreach. You will collaborate closely with your marketing team colleagues, including the Creative Services team, as well as with Business Development and energy and transportation program experts in a fast-paced environment.

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Manage corporate website (Drupal): create and upload content, oversee content updates, draft and implement strategies to grow traffic, track and report on key metrics, collaborate with Platform Development team to resolve issues and implement enhancements
  • Draft and disseminate email newsletters and content-based email marketing campaigns using marketing automation software; create, test and optimize emails and newsletters based on performance metrics
  • Assist in drafting compelling content and collateral, including ads, brochures, case studies, fact sheets, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations and website content, ensuring consistency with CSE brand and style
  • Assist in tracking and managing the thought leadership content development process
  • Manage corporate webinar creation and promotion
  • Oversee social media strategy (currently LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook): manage the content calendar, draft or edit posts, monitor and grow engagement, report on metrics, and suggest adjustments based on research
  • Provide event support: conduct research and outreach for conference sponsorships and speaking opportunities, negotiate contracts, assist speakers with content, and handle exhibition logistics
  • Assist in public relations as needed: research media outlets and reporters and draft statements, talking points and press releases

QUALIFICATIONS 

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required

  • Experience managing a website (preferably Drupal): creating and posting new content, growing traffic and supervising updates
  • Experience developing and executing digital communications and marketing plans
  • Experience with an email marketing platform (preferably Marketo) and familiarity with email regulations and best practices
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Google suite of tools (Analytics, Data Studio, Tag Manager, Ads) and SEO and keyword strategies
  • Professional social media experience (Linkedln, Twitter, Facebook)
  • Clear, crisp writer with knowledge of AP style
  • Ability to collaborate with graphic designers, thought leaders, and partners on print and web content, presentations, and events
  • Proactive, organized, responsive and flexible team player with a can-do spirit

Preferred

  • Experience in environment, energy, transportation, technology or software sectors a plus

As an integral part of CSE’s Distributed Energy Resources (DER) team, you will lead DER demonstrations and technical assistance projects funded by California CCAs, The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), and the California Energy Commission (CEC). You will work with CSE’s DER and Transportation Specialists, policy team, and engineering team to develop and implement innovative projects demonstrating emerging technology applications, programs to address barriers to adoption of technologies that support decarbonization, initiatives that support market transformation, and advisory projects with local governments to help them reach their climate action goals. You will work closely with the Senior DER Operations Specialist and Matrix teams to facilitate effective operations of DER projects and provide and execute solutions. This is a supervisory role and you will be managing a team of at least 2 other associate managers and staff.

You have an understanding of the mechanics of the diffusion of technologies and knowledge of building electrification, load management, energy storage technologies. You are driven by curiosity and stay informed about new technologies and trends in the energy industry.

What You’ll Do

Under the direction of the Senior Director, DER you will have a high level of responsibility for the supervision and management of CSE’s demonstration projects and strategic initiatives. You will perform your duties with a high level of autonomy and supervise managers with a wide portfolio of projects.

Essential Duties:

  • Shape and execute project strategy from concept development through closeout.
  • Work with DER Leadership and matrix teams to scope engagements and determine project objectives.
  • Develop and advise on strategic approaches, and manage team’s successful execution.

  • Demonstrated high-level of abilities of various computer software programs and fluency in using standard office software packages such as MS Office: Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to perform within required deadlines;
  • Strong organizational, time management and planning skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;

  • Bachelors degree in a closely related field or equivalent work experience required
  • Masters degree preferred

License, Certificates or Registrations:

What You’ll Do

Processes clean vehicle rebate applications efficiently and accurately.   

  

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:    

  • Process clean vehicle rebate applications using a customized Salesforce.com CRM system and other computer systems  
  •  Follow detailed, standard practices and operating procedures to review rebate applications and varied, complex supporting documents for accuracy and completeness  
  • Make quick, consistent decisions following detailed program terms and conditions to determine rebate applicant eligibility  
  •  Provide technical support to applicants for the online application and document submission processes  
  •  Explain complex project requirements to applicants on the phone and in writing  
  •  Use good judgment when speaking with applicants about non-public personal information  
  •  Handle highly-sensitive documents that contain non-public personal information, following mandatory security processes  
  •  Use template-based and customized emails to communicate professionally and accurately with rebate applicants  
  •  Prepare and mail rebate checks to rebate applicants  
  •  Work effectively with fellow team members to complete rebate processing tasks, assisting others when opportunities arise  
  •  Identify issues which may require deviation from standard practices and work with team leads to implement solutions  
  •  Communicate with the CVRP operations team leads and operations managers to provide status updates, report concerns, and suggest solutions and improvements

As an integral part of CSE’s in-house marketing team, you will provide marketing support for B2B and B2C clean energy and transportation programs, including implementing and reporting on various tactics across paid, earned, shared and owned channels.

Essential functions and responsibilities

· Provides marketing project management for assigned CSE programs from creative brief development through to quality control and delivery of final deliverables

· Assists with developing digital marketing strategies

· Manages program-specific social media, including paid campaigns; develops and refines campaign reports to help optimize paid social media campaigns

· Manages program-specific digital advertising including SEM and digital display ads

· Develops and refines website and campaign metrics reports

· Promotes and coordinates webinars and post-webinar follow-up communication

· Coordinates the creation of marketing collateral, including flyers, posters, guidebooks, etc. with our in-house creative and copyediting teams

· Creates, tests and optimizes emails based on performance metrics

 

QUALIFICATIONS
