The Center for Sustainable Energy invites city and county staff to attend a free webinar on implementing California's recently enacted AB 2188 that requires local governments to adopt ordinances creating streamlined permitting processes for small residential rooftop solar systems by September 30, 2015. AB 2188 will help lower the cost of solar installations and further expand the accessibility of solar to more homeowners in California. This webinar will provide an overview of the legislation and best practices in solar permitting.
- Sachu Constantine, Director of Policy, Center for Sustainable Energy will provide an overview of AB 2188 and discuss resources available to assist local governments with the implementation process.
- Joe Kaatz, Staff Attorney, University of San Diego School of Law Energy Policy Initiatives Center will discuss the legal framework and requirements of AB 2188.
This webinar is based on the AB 2188 Implementation Guide, a document intended to inform participants of new statutory mandates including the requirement that adopted streamlined permitting processes substantially conform to the California Solar Permitting Guidebook. The Implementation Guide and webinar are funded by the Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative, a national collaborative effort to make solar energy cost-competitive with other forms of electricity by the end of the decade.
