San Diego, CA (May 16, 2013) – The latest survey data on how California’s plug-in electric vehicle ( PEV) drivers use and charge their cars indicates that the majority of respondents have high overall satisfaction with their choice to go electric and use their PEVs as their primary transportation. Under funding from the California Air Resources Board, the California Center for Sustainable Energy (CCSE) conducts ongoing PEV owner surveys as part of the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project.
Nationwide program to develop and implement plug-in electric vehicle charging at work
Among the goals of the Energy Department challenge is to expand the availability of charging stations at work locations by tenfold within the next five years so that PEV drivers have greater convenience and more options. By signing up with the program, CCSE pledges to develop and implement plans to support the workplace charging initiative.
CCSE’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Project team joined Fiat USA on a six-week tour up and down the electric vehicle-friendly state of California. While team members spoke to excited car enthusiasts about the available state incentives, Fiat promoted its “environmentally sexy,” all new, all-electric 500e, currently available only in California.

The latest survey data on how California’s plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) drivers use and charge their cars indicates that CVRP recipients are highly satisfied with their choice to go electric and use their PEVs as their primary transportation. The study shows PEV owners drive their cars an average of nearly 29 miles per day and charge their vehicles primarily at night when electrical rates are lowest.
