EVs & Solar: Social Media Campaign Can Help High School Students Win National Contest

High school students enrolled in the Mission Valley ROP Automotive Technology program at James Logan High in the San Francisco Bay Area are national finalists in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest for successfully designing and building the only student-constructed solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging station in the nation, according to program administrators.

CA Energy Commission Awards Grant to CSE for First Standards-Based Smart EV Charging Platform

The California Energy Commission has awarded a $1.5 million grant to the CSE to lead development of an advanced management platform for integrating electric vehicle (EV) charging with utility-scale energy systems.

CSE will work closely with KnGrid, a leader in vehicle-grid communications, to create a standardized platform that optimizes charging benefits for both grid operators and vehicle owners. It will be the first data platform to employ the international ISO/IEC 15118 standard for flexibly managing vehicle charging with data from the power grid.

Experience Electric Campaign Draws 3,000 Drivers

Comments such as zippy, fast and smart were among the most often-heard reactions of first-time electric vehicle divers during the Experience Electric-The Better Ride campaign held in the San Francisco Bay Area during the past six months.

Launched in May 2014, the EV awareness campaign held test drives at more than 20 workplace and community outreach events, allowing over 3,000 drivers to try various all-electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in an effort to spur EV adoption.
