Job Summary
We’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented Project Manager to help lead impactful clean energy programs in distributed energy resources (DER)--including building decarbonation/electrification, battery storage, and more specifically solar energy. You’ll partner with our Senior Project Manager and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative projects that shape a more sustainable energy future. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Project and Financial Management
- Supervise supporting staff in administering the program(s) which includes program design and implementation, marketing and outreach implementation, and application processing.
- Track and manage accountable hours for internal program staff, ensuring alignment between time allocation, deliverables, and budget expectations.
- Ensure subcontractor activities and expenditures remain within approved budget allocations and funding parameters.
- Assist in management of client and partner relationships. Contribute to comprehensive monthly and quarterly invoicing.
- Conduct periodic program process evaluations to streamline internal and external program procedures.
Program Implementation
- Lead the development and ongoing refinement of program strategies by creating straw proposals, work plans, and implementation plans.
- Appropriately and effectively coordinate tasks with matrixed resources to ensure cohesive project delivery.
- Participate and present information and updates through reports, meetings, webinars, and workshops.
- Make recommendations on future program design, including needs assessments, drafting proposals, creating content, preparing program materials, and evaluation and reporting.
Cross-Functional and Stakeholder Coordination
- Facilitate strong communication and collaboration across project teams to drive alignment and timely execution.
- Provide critical review and quality assurance on work products to maintain high standards and consistency across program outputs.
- Interact extensively with stakeholders; develop and maintain strong relationships to inform stakeholders of ongoing program developments.
Program Monitoring and Reporting
- Proactively identify program risks and implementation challenges, escalate concerns when necessary, and lead the execution of corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and funding guidelines applicable to each program under management.
- Ensure that procedures are working to achieve program goals and to support efficient processes.
Additional Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required
- Proven experience managing complex projects within matrixed organizations, including oversight of team utilization and accountable hours to ensure alignment with project budgets and deliverables.
- Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to lead as a manager, coach, and mentor to program staff across varying job responsibilities and levels of experience.
- Strong independent research skills and familiarity with leveraging regulatory, technical, and industry-specific resources.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including proficiency spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Advanced skills in standard office software packages, including Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software tools as needed.
- Direct experience working with state and federal government funding agencies, such as the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
- Familiarity with government contracting processes and regulatory frameworks applicable to clean energy or public sector programs.
Preferred
Industry and Program Expertise
- 5 years of experience in the distributed energy resources, sustainability, or clean energy sectors, with a strong understanding of solar energy program implementation.
- Experience with residential, muti-family, or community energy programs, including familiarity with program design, stakeholder engagement, and program implementation.
- Knowledge of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) HOME Energy Rebate Program, including applicable guidelines and compliance requirements.
Government Contracting and Grant Management
- Working knowledge of administering government contracts and managing grant agreements, including experience with public sector funding processes and reporting requirements.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience required
- Master’s degree preferred
