CSE is the statewide administrator for the Drive Clean Rebate Program in New York that supports greenhouse gas reduction goals through greater use of electric vehicles (EVs).
The initiative aims to increase EV adoption by consumers and fleet managers throughout the state. It provides point-of-sale rebates up to $2,000 for more than 60 models of qualifying new battery electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Residents, businesses and government entities are eligible.
In addition to processing rebate applications, CSE provides outreach and education to help dealerships and manufacturers participate in the initiative. The initiative is managed by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

As of November 2025
To date, CSE has administered and processed more than $196 million for EVs in New York.
CSE has issued more than 223,174 rebates for EVs in New York.
Vehicles receiving rebates have reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to more than 537,200 metric tons of carbon dioxide.
