CSE administers the PECO EVsmart Charging Rebate program that demonstrates the viability of electric vehicle (EV) charger rebates for commercial and industrial customers within the service territory of PECO, the utility company for southeastern Pennsylvania and the EVsmart program funder. The program began in 2022.
The PECO EVsmart Charging Rebate includes two programs, a Level 2 Commercial Electric Vehicle Charging Program and a Public Benefit Charging Program. The Level 2 program offers $2,000 per port for installing EV charging, with enhanced support of $3,000 per port for EV chargers located in an Environmental Justice Areas. The Public Benefit Program supports charging site development for customers that serve a broad range of public purposes and offers incentives for equipment, installation and make-ready costs. The program covers up to 50% of costs for installations of both level 2 and DC fast chargers. In 2024, PECO extended the EVsmart program for five years, guaranteeing funding for rebates through mid-2029.
The program requires rebate recipients to provide ongoing charging data via CSE’s Caret® Knowledgebase to inform PECO on usage patterns.
