CSE has received a 2017 ENERGY STAR Award for Excellence in ENERGY STAR Promotion for outstanding efforts to promote energy-efficient products in the Energy Upgrade California program. CSE’s accomplishments will be recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C., on April 26, 2017.
An ENERGY STAR partner since 2010, CSE will be honored for its management of statewide marketing, education and outreach for Energy Upgrade California, an initiative dedicated to helping residents take actions to save energy and conserve resources by making wise energy choices at home and at work. The award recognizes CSE’s long-term, deep knowledge of energy systems and its commitment to increasing consumer awareness of energy efficiency and ENERGY STAR products.
Utilizing a wide range of media, advertising, events and in-person interactions, CSE and its partners promoted Energy Upgrade California and ENERGY STAR through 12 million contacts, 19 newspaper features reaching more than five million readers, websites reaching more than five million viewers and tens of thousands of personal engagements in communities across California.
“These results not only demonstrate CSE’s commitment to advocating for and educating the public about ENERGY STAR-certified products, but also provide a snapshot into the lasting impact this advocacy has on the California environment, economy and community,” said CSE Executive Director Len Hering, Rear Admiral, USN (ret.). “The more efficient use of energy and water throughout our country results in better resource management and less money spent by residents, schools, government agencies, businesses and industries.”
