CSE is among a group of 13 national and regional organizations teaming up with the Alliance to Save Energy’s 50x50 Commission on U.S. Transportation Sector Efficiency to help reduce energy use in transportation 50 percent by 2050.
The 50x50 Commission is a diverse coalition of leading vehicle manufacturers, utilities, environmental and consumer groups, unions, technology companies and public officials. It issued a consensus report in September calling on policymakers to embrace a series of recommendations aiming to reduce energy use in transportation while embracing new technologies to meet future mobility needs.
“The commission brings together leaders from across the nation who have the solutions for reimagining our transportation network so it uses significantly less energy,” said Alliance to Save Energy President Jason Hartke. “These groups will not only raise awareness for the commission but help engage policymakers across the country.”
The other supporting organizations are Alliance for Transportation Electrification, American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, Business Council for Sustainable Energy, National Association of State Energy Officials, National Governors Association, National League of Cities, Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships, Plug In America, Smart Electric Power Alliance, Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance, Southwest Energy Efficiency Project and VEIC.

Founded in 1977, the Alliance to Save Energy is a nonprofit, bipartisan alliance of business, government, environmental and consumer leaders working to expand the economy while using less energy.
