Addressing Barriers to EVI Deployment in Disadvantaged Communities (DACs): the Kern Region EV Charging Station Blueprint Project

Kern Region EV Charging Station Blueprint Project

Rural and disadvantaged communities face some of the same challenges as any region in deploying electric vehicle charging infrastructure. They need to raise awareness, increase affordability, reduce range anxiety, provide funding and streamline permitting. These communities also face challenges that require unique approaches. These include prioritizing air quality, engaging multicultural and multilingual communities, addressing the needs of families with above-average commutes and no access to home charging, and making the best use of existing rebate programs.
